Founded in 2021 by Vivekanand Tripathi and Vikas Garg, Pelocal has built an AI-powered platform that lets large enterprises handle ticketing, collections, onboarding and customer service inside WhatsApp, tapping the chat app’s 700 million-plus Indian user base. The company also delivers technology infrastructure for banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) clients. Pelocal claims to serve more than 40 large enterprises across BFSI, transit and utilities, reaching over 5 million unique users each month. Since its October 2024 seed round, the startup reports a six-fold increase in total payment value and now runs at an annualised payment run rate exceeding USD 500 million. Management’s near-term objective is to scale to USD 10 million in annual recurring revenue within two years. The fresh capital will be channelled into product development, expansion of current use cases and bolstering go-to-market efforts, supporting the company’s mission to bring last-mile payments to the masses via WhatsApp.
