Overview
PetMedix is a Cambridge, UK-based animal health company that develops species-specific therapeutic antibodies for veterinary medicine. Led by CEO Tom Weaver and Dr Dave Lowery, Chief Product Development Officer, the company advances internal discovery programs toward regulatory approval. PetMedix intends to use new funds to advance its innovative pipeline through clinical development. The company was spun out of the lab of Prof Allan Bradley FRS in 2018, based on the PhD work of co-founder Jolyon Martin. While the initial commercial focus will be the United States, PetMedix has built an international organisation and financing syndicate to support efforts in European and Asian markets. PetMedix raised $37M in Series B funding to support these clinical and development efforts. PetMedix is an R&D-stage Cambridge, UK–based biopharmaceutical company developing antibody-based therapeutics for companion animals, principally dogs and cats. The team brings over 30 years' experience in monoclonal antibody technologies and builds species-specific therapeutic antibody platforms. Founded by scientists with pedigrees in human monoclonal antibody development, the company aims to translate gold-standard human antibody technology into veterinary medicines. PetMedix has secured £8 million in a Series A and is pursuing an extension to that round to close later in 2019. The company has moved into new premises in the Cambridge biotech cluster and has recruited senior scientific and commercial talent, including CSO Professor Allan Bradley and board appointee Dr. Fabian Kausche. Management frames the companion animal therapeutics market as a roughly US$3 billion opportunity and is open to investment partners and M&A.
