Phocea DC is developing a 100% French, eco-responsible data center in Marseille focused on proximity to submarine cables and reduced carbon footprint. The company plans to rehabilitate a 1,700 m² building, reinforce floors for equipment, and be operational by the end of 2024. Initial capacity will offer 1.2 megawatts available, with a possible second tranche of equipment depending on demand. Phocea DC targets compliance with forthcoming European carbon-neutral rules for data centers and aims for a PUE of about 1.2, below the future 1.3 threshold. The site will use energy-efficient cooling technologies, reuse waste heat for the building, and explore immersion cooling and hydrogen-based generators. Target customers include local authorities, companies seeking a sovereign alternative, IT service providers, and French and international operators.
