Overview
Photomyne offers a mobile app that uses on-device A.I. to scan multiple printed photos at once, auto-detect boundaries, rotate, crop, correct perspective, and save images into shareable digital albums. The app is used by about 1 million people monthly and has been downloaded 7 million times; 250,000 users pay a $20 annual subscription for expanded features such as cloud backup, device sync, local saves, and family websites. Its A.I. improves with usage and the company plans to add automatic color correction for decayed photos and search across its 70M+ photo archive. Photomyne holds patents for scanning other media (business cards, documents, sticky notes) and is considering expansion beyond photos. The company currently has a team of 16 and plans to grow to around 25 while scaling into Japan and Southeast Asia. Photomyne offers a mobile app that scans multiple printed photos in a single shot, automatically cropping each image and restoring faded colors using machine-learning. The product is positioned as both a fast scanning utility and a way to create live, shareable digital archives, with features for Facebook Timeline posting and a community "Discover" feed. The company sells a paid $4.99 app and a free app with in-app purchases, plus a Premium annual tier at $11.99 that adds unlimited saves, backup and desktop access. Since launch nine months ago Photomyne has grown to over 900,000 users, with more than 500,000 paid-app users and roughly 400,000 free-app users; users have scanned over 14 million photos to date. The team is 13 employees based in Tel Aviv and includes founders with backgrounds at LabPixies, Photogene and HP. Upcoming product updates include an upgraded ML model to improve detection, a revamped scanning UX, cloud-only backup to free device storage, faster scanning and collaborative photo albums; an Android app is also in development.
