PhytlSigns is the first commercial crop health diagnostic system based on plant electrophysiology, collecting internal electrical, mechanical and chemical signalling to detect disease, pests, nutrient deficiencies and water stress. Described as the “Fitbit of plants,” it applies machine learning to provide early warnings that support grower decision‑making. Produced by Swiss biosignals specialists Vivent, the system has been deployed in sophisticated greenhouses and proven effective in field trials on tomato, apple and grape; it is currently used on tomatoes, peppers, strawberries and eggplants. The information supports climate control, irrigation, crop protection and fertilisation decisions, and the company says the technology leads to increased yields, improved crop protection effectiveness, and encourages environmentally preferable protection solutions. PhytlSigns aims to serve a much wider range of growers and crops across Europe and North America. Financially, the technology has attracted €1.8 million of funding from ePlant, Inc. and Astanor Ventures.
