Overview
Pietra provides a membership-based e-commerce infrastructure platform that bundles essential software tools and connected operational services for direct-to-consumer and creator-led brands. The Pietra Membership Program offers a monthly subscription that includes returns software, influencer marketing tools, access to product and packaging manufacturers, research and product development resources, and a private fulfillment center tied directly into a brand’s supply chain. Pietra also supplies a sales network to help members sell more products and is building a suite of software tools normally paid for separately but included in membership. Led by CEO Ronak Trivedi and COO Tala Akhavan, the company aims to simplify the entrepreneurial journey and enable brands to operate efficiently while remaining lean. Since launch it has experienced meaningful growth, attracted fast-growing DTC and creator-led businesses, doubled its team, and expanded operations to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The company plans to double down on its New York presence in 2023 and use new funding to grow its platform and expand its membership offering. Pietra provides a backend platform for creators to launch and scale digital-first consumer product lines by interfacing with suppliers, managing samples, orders, fulfillment and storefronts. The company evolved from a jewelry marketplace into a broader creator hub serving verticals such as swimwear, makeup, apparel, fragrances and jewelry. Pietra’s platform lets customers compare suppliers, move from sampling to production, and uses per-unit pricing plus a percentage fee on marketplace sales. The startup is building a Pro offering with differentiated pricing aimed at more established brands that run multiple production cycles per year. Pietra aims to lower minimum orders and onboard top suppliers to make starting a product business accessible to more creators. Financially, the company recently closed a $15 million Series A to accelerate its platform and go-to-market efforts. Pietra launched Pietra Studio, an online fine-jewelry platform that directly connects consumers with designers to create custom pieces. The platform gives customers access to more than 100 global designers, from small shops to well-known jewelers who create pieces for celebrities. Price points for custom work range from about $250 up to $15,000 and as high as $30,000 for designers such as Stephen Webster and Nicole Wegman. Buyers can select a designer or use a concierge service that employs a survey to match customers with appropriate designers, then work one-on-one to create pieces. Pietra also operates a ready-to-wear marketplace for existing jewelry. The company is led by CEO Ronak Trivedi and is backed by high-profile investors mentioned in the seed round coverage.
