PinPoint Data Science’s flagship PinPoint Test applies AI/ML to rapidly ‘rule out’ cancer from a simple blood sample and may be used for all cancer types. Founded in 2018, the company now has a full-time team of nine. The test has already achieved nearly 25% rule-out in its work to date; the CEO estimated that this could have spared over 500,000 patients invasive testing last year and saved the NHS more than £150 million. PinPoint raised over €1 million in an early-stage funding round supported by Angel Investment Network (AIN). The new funds will enable implementation trials starting mid-2020 and will finance R&D on improved product versions, regulatory compliance, purchase of new equipment, development of new products, and expansion of the full-time team.
