Overview
Pixxel is a space-technology startup that builds and operates hyperspectral imaging satellites, providing high-resolution Earth-observation data and analytics to its customers. Founded in 2019 by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal, the company has attracted a roster of prominent investors, including Glade Brook, Lightspeed, Google, Blume Ventures, Athera Venture Partners, and Aditya Birla Ventures. Pixxel has already raised over $90 million since inception and is now in the process of securing its largest round yet. The current raise targets $55–60 million, with most commitments already in place, and management is considering upsizing the round to $80–100 million. Approximately $25 million of the targeted capital is coming from Deepinder Goyal, while the remainder is expected from existing backers. The infusion will bolster Pixxel’s plan to expand its satellite constellation and enhance its data-analytics capabilities. Continued investor interest reflects growing confidence in the commercial potential of hyperspectral Earth-observation technology.
