London-based Plumerai builds Tiny AI models that run directly on inexpensive, off-the-shelf chips inside battery-powered cameras and pair them with a cloud-based Vision LLM to keep costs and latency low. Its software already powers millions of cameras with features such as people, vehicle, animal and package detection, familiar-face recognition, stranger identification, and multi-camera people tracking. Newly announced Vision LLM-driven tools—AI Video Search and AI Captions—let users query historical footage and receive detailed action summaries like “a delivery driver rang your doorbell, placed the package on the ground, and left again.” Customer benchmarks show Plumerai’s hybrid edge-cloud approach beating Amazon Nova and Google Gemini on accuracy while cutting cloud inference costs by up to 135×. Initially focused on home security, the company is now expanding into enterprise security, retail, offices, warehouses, and elderly-care settings. Backed with more than $17 million in total funding, Plumerai reports rapid ARR growth as customers can enable its software on devices already in the field via over-the-air updates.
