Printify

108 W 13th St, Wilmington, Delaware, 19801, United States

Overview

Printify operates a marketplace that connects creators, merchants and micro-brands with print providers to produce and ship on-demand custom merchandise. The company offers a catalog of more than 370 products printed in 100+ locations worldwide, with popular items including T‑shirts, hoodies, stickers, mugs, posters and hats. Printify says it now connects about two million merchants and ships roughly one million units per month. The startup has grown to nearly 500 employees (doubling headcount over the past year) and plans to add around 200 more roles by year‑end. Its stated mission is to expand its global marketplace of print shops to meet rising creator and e‑commerce demand for custom wares. Printify operates a B2B print-on-demand marketplace that connects manufacturers with e-commerce merchants and handles billing, manufacturing requests, fulfillment, and shipping. The platform lets online store owners create custom clothing, accessories and other products with their designs, set their own pricing, and retain larger margins than incumbents. After a pivot away from pretending to be the manufacturer, the company added hundreds of unique products and began growing roughly 30% month-over-month. The startup, founded in 2015, has about 80 employees and graduated from the 500 Startups accelerator. Printify primarily serves political campaign staff, designers and artists, influencers, and small e-commerce “hustlers.” With the latest capital, the company is focused on expanding its marketplace to enable micro and boutique brands and continue product-catalog growth. Printify operates a marketplace that links e-commerce stores to on-demand manufacturers, sending print-ready files and triggering production via API when orders arrive. It integrates with most e-commerce back ends and first gained traction through a Shopify integration. Roughly 50,000 e-commerce stores use Printify’s services. The company partners with Lumi for packaging to make brand creation and fulfillment more seamless. Founder James Berdigans conceived the idea after trying to source on-demand printing for his own accessory business; Printify pivoted to a marketplace model in 2016 due to manufacturing quality concerns. Printify is already profitable and plans to expand services in the U.S. while building out its Riga engineering team. With the new funding it aims to double its Riga headcount in 2018 and create at least 30 new jobs, mainly in programming, design, and customer support.
