Proba
Laan van Kronenburg 14, Amstelveen, Noord-Holland, 1183 AS, The Netherlands
Overview
Proba operates a certification platform that turns fertilizer-related greenhouse-gas reductions into traceable, financeable assets for agri-food companies. Its core product is an independently verified "Impact Unit," each representing 1 tCO₂e of reduction that aligns with SBTi and the GHG Protocol’s FLAG guidance and is recorded in a registry for full traceability. The company targets nitrogen-fertilizer emissions, which account for roughly 5 % of global GHG output, and focuses on major crop value chains such as coffee, corn, potatoes, and sugar. By addressing barriers like cost and misaligned incentives among producers, traders, and food brands, Proba aims to make Scope 3 reductions standard practice across complex supply chains. The platform enables companies to generate compliant, credible Scope 3 claims while accelerating adoption of proven low-carbon fertilizer solutions. With the new €1.25 million infusion, Proba plans to expand certification and financing services into the United States and Brazil—two of the world’s largest agricultural markets. Existing backers Future Food Fund, Yield Lab Europe, and Value Factory Ventures returned to fund this growth. The raise underscores investor confidence in Proba’s model and its momentum in delivering measurable climate impact.
