Purple Squirrel operates a marketplace that gives job seekers paid, 30-minute access to employee "advocates" at target companies for interview advice, resume critiques and potential referrals. Advocates set their own fees and act as independent career consultants, enabling candidates without networks to connect with insiders. The company launched its platform to humanize the job search and flip the traditional blind-application model. Purple Squirrel says the service helps companies uncover talent they might miss through automation and improves hiring quality. The startup is based in Los Angeles and was founded by Jon Silber in June 2016. Purple Squirrel has received $2.7M in funding to date and is using the platform launch to scale its marketplace.
