Q5D Technology builds the CU500, a robotic 5-axis FFF system with an interchangeable toolhead that can deposit polymers, metal pastes or wiring and perform sintering, embedding and jetting on complex 3D shapes. The machine’s end-effect changer lets it switch between deposition modes on a single integrated platform, enabling conformal overprinting and continuous prints on large aerospace and automotive parts as well as electronic devices. Q5D positions the CU500 to automate traditionally manual wiring-harness production and to embed power/data elements like fiber-optic sensors or add carbon/glass fiber reinforcement. The company was founded in 2019 and is working with customers and partners including Oxford Space Systems, Safran, LEHVOSS, the University of Exeter, Victrex, FDM Digital and GRM Consulting to develop materials and processes. To advance that roadmap Q5D secured seed capital and plans further iteration and refinement of the CU500 for cross-industry adoption. The firm has drawn ongoing support from SOSV (which provided pre-seed financing and HAX mentorship) and new strategic backing to help commercialize the platform.
