Overview
Qnami develops quantum microscope technology centered on its Qnami ProteusQ™, the first commercial Scanning NV (Nitrogen Vacancy) Magnetometer, launched in 2019. The ProteusQ uses the company’s patented Quantilever™ diamond scanning probes to analyze magnetic materials at the nanoscale. Qnami intends to extend this patented quantum microscope technology into applications for the design and production of quantum computers and spintronics devices. The company also plans to scale the commercial launch of the Qnami ProteusQ™. Qnami was founded in 2017 and is led by CEO Mathieu Munsch. In November 2021 it closed a $4.4M Series A financing round to support those plans. Qnami is a Basel, Switzerland-based startup developing a platform for analysis of magnetic materials at the nanoscale using proprietary quantum technology. It is advancing a quantum microscope for inspection of magnetic materials at the nanoscale. The company plans to use its funding to bring its first product to market and to further develop quantum sensing applications. Founded in November 2017 by CEO Mathieu Munsch, Qnami has grown to a team of eight combining expertise in quantum technologies, microfabrication, engineering and software. Qnami has built on support from the University of Basel, the Swiss Nanoscience Institute, the QSIT NCCR and several national and European institutions. The platform aims to create a new standard for high-precision sensors and to support development of diagnostic solutions across science, semiconductors and healthcare. QNAMI builds quantum sensors that use cutting-edge quantum technologies and synthetic diamonds to improve imaging techniques. Its sensors are aimed at helping companies in the electronics industry perform more accurate failure analysis for next-generation magnetic memories. The startup also targets medical applications that could reduce imaging scan times. QNAMI estimates an addressable market of USD 200 million in imaging sensors. The company recently won one of Venture Kick’s seed-money prizes and received mentorship and coaching through the program. Co-founder Mathieu Munsch said the award confirms the startup is on the right track and that the team is already working on next steps.
