Overview
QpiAI develops full-stack quantum computers and specialized software that combine AI and quantum computing to tackle optimization, simulation, material discovery and drug-synthesis use cases across manufacturing, transportation, finance, pharma and materials. The company says it launched QpiAI-Indus in April, a 25-superconducting-qubit system, and plans a 64-qubit machine in November with customer availability targeted in the second or third quarter of next year. QpiAI assembles roughly 80% of its machines in-house and plans to begin local manufacturing in 2026 while targeting a 100-logical-qubit system by 2030. The Bengaluru-headquartered startup, founded in 2019, has subsidiaries in the U.S. and Finland, employs about 100 people (including 25 PhDs) and reports roughly 20 customers in India and the U.S., including the Indian government. Financially, QpiAI says it has been profitable at the EBITDA level for the past three years, with approximately 60% gross margins and 20%–30% net margins. With the new funding it plans market expansion into Singapore and the Middle East and to scale operations and local manufacturing. QpiAI positions itself as a leader in quantum computing and generative AI, vertically integrating quantum hardware and AI software to serve industries including manufacturing, transportation, finance, pharma and materials. The company has commercialized seven software platforms—QpiAI-pro, QpiAI-explorer, QpiAI-logistics, QpiAIopt, QpiAIML, QpiAI-pharma and QpiAI-Matter—and reports traction with large enterprise customers. QpiAI is headquartered in Bangalore and maintains subsidiaries in the US and Finland while working with enterprises and governments across the US, Europe, Japan, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. With the new funding, the company plans to demonstrate a 25-qubit quantum computer at its Bangalore HQ by Q4 CY2024/Q1 CY2025 and to scale QPU counts toward 1,000 qubits. It intends to build Quantum-HPC datacenters, offer QCaaS (Quantum Compute as a Service), and deploy advanced compute infrastructure to accelerate generative AI and quantum software innovations across multiple verticals.
