Quantune
Rudower Chaussee 29, Berlin, 12489, Germany
Overview
Quantune develops a miniaturized infrared laser spectrometer intended to measure glucose non-invasively in interstitial fluid. The company aims to embed the spectrometer into a wrist-worn device for continuous glucose monitoring usable by diabetics and by people interested in sports and weight management. Quantune's technology reportedly works well in controlled laboratory conditions but needs further miniaturization and robust performance during real-world movement and temperature/pressure variation. Founders Jan Kischkat and Nikolaus Hahne say the next steps are shrinking the device further and making measurements stable outside the lab. To support R&D and hiring, Quantune raised €8.5 million in seed funding and previously received about €5 million in public grants from the European Innovation Council and the Investment Bank of Berlin. The company expects the current R&D phase to take roughly two years.
