The company says it will eventually change how policies are constructed and how payouts work, aiming to address common underpayment and coverage-cap issues. Quilt positions itself as a better actor in an industry criticized for poor customer experiences and claims handling. To start, it will offer traditional products while pursuing regulatory approvals to alter policy structures state by state. The company is partnering with Security First Insurance in Florida to both handle traditional policies and collaborate on developing the new products. Quilt was founded by CEO Blair Baldwin, who previously worked in marketing/adtech and at the auto-insurance quote business Goji.
