Overview
Founded in 2019 by former SpaceX engineer Sergiy Nesterenko, Quilter has built the first publicly demonstrated system for fully autonomous PCB layout, using reinforcement learning trained on fundamental electromagnetic and thermal physics. The cloud-based platform plugs into engineers’ existing EDA workflows (Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Siemens Xpedition) and reduces PCB placement and routing work from weeks to minutes, eliminating human error while accelerating product cycles. Fortune 500 aerospace, defense, and consumer electronics firms representing roughly $500 billion in market capitalization are already deploying the product, and Quilter is now engaged with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers whose combined market value exceeds $8 trillion. Early users report dramatic cuts in iteration time, such as a Tier-1 automotive supplier shrinking test-board cycles from weeks to days. The company plans to broaden integrations across the hardware development stack and ultimately generate board designs that outperform any human layout. Quilter has raised $40 million to date and is pursuing SOC 2 Type II compliance to support deployments on private cloud, GovCloud, and on-premise environments.
