Overview

Quipper is a London-based learning platform that provides a cloud-based web platform enabling users to create educational content and monitor performance. Its flagship product, Quipper School, allows teachers to set class assignments directly to students’ computers and mobile devices and to assess student performance with analytics. The company is led by Masa Watanabe. Quipper raised $5.8M in funding from investors including Atomico, Benesse Holdings and Globis Capital Partners. It intends to use the funds to continue improving its mobile learning platforms and to expand globally. The company has been working with Japanese publisher Benesse to develop a tablet-based learning service trial. Quipper offers a Q&A-style e-learning app and web platform that teaches through short question-and-answer interactions and lets users create their own quiz programmes. The product targets learners as well as teachers, parents and professional training companies. It is available on the web and on Apple iOS and Android. Since launching in October last year the company reports 1.7 million users who have answered questions 85 million times across 2,000 topics. The company was founded by Masa Watanabe, a co-founder of Japanese mobile social gaming company DeNA. Quipper says the new funding will be used to expand the service with an emphasis on increasing the amount of content on the platform.
