RailVision Analytics builds in-cab technology for passenger and freight trains aimed at reducing fuel consumption and GHG emissions. Its flagship EcoRail app, launched in 2021, is a lightweight crew-tablet application with a Google Maps–style UI designed for easy adoption by railroad engineers. Early demonstrations of EcoRail produced meaningful fuel cost savings of 10–15% and the product also targets improved crew safety, operation compliance monitoring, and reduced equipment wear. EcoRail has been piloted with Genesee & Wyoming, Metrolinx, Port of Montreal, and Via Rail, and is now commercially available for passenger and freight shortline railroads. RailVision was launched in 2020 and is based in Montreal. The company plans to use recent funding to hire technical staff, grow its product development team, and expand its product line and customer base.
