Ravee Optics

Dayton, Ohio, United States, North America

Overview

Ravee Optics designs laser communications terminals that use meta-optics on silicon wafers to manipulate light, enabling much smaller and lighter hardware than traditional lens-based systems. The company says its compact terminal will deliver comparable performance to current independently manufactured terminals while reducing mass and volume to about two kilograms and two liters versus roughly 20 kilograms and 25 liters for competitors like the Mynaric Condor. Ravee has validated its core technology in the lab and will focus the next two years on ground demos and qualification testing, targeting an in-orbit demonstration in early 2028. The firm intends to scale manufacturing by tapping existing silicon wafer foundry infrastructure rather than building bespoke optics fabs. Ravee positions its product for broad uptake by smallsat operators, defense constellations, and in-orbit data center businesses that require high-throughput laser communications. Financially, the company recently raised $6M in a seed round to advance development and manufacturing preparations.
