Recite Me provides a cloud-based web accessibility assistive toolbar that allows website visitors to customize sites to meet their needs. The company’s SaaS solution has supported more than 5.4 million users and been used to customize content on over 34 million web pages. Recite Me counts household brands such as Boots, Coca Cola and VW among its customers. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Gateshead, the company also has offices in the UK, Australia and the US. The business intends to use new funding to continue product and technology development and to grow its team and infrastructure. Its stated mission is to expand access to online content for millions of people worldwide. Recite Me develops software that transforms website content by adding accessibility functionality for visually impaired and dyslexic users. Its features include text-to-speech, multiple high-contrast color schemes, the ability to enlarge words, in-line dictionary definitions and translation into 52 languages. The product repackages page content to improve usability and accessibility for diverse audiences. Launched by Ross Linnett two years ago, the company says its software is in use at organizations including Go North East, the University of Northumbria and a municipal council in Australia. Recite Me recently secured external capital and plans to use the funding to expand its marketing capabilities overseas. The company is based in Gateshead, UK. Recite Me develops web accessibility software that lets users adapt websites to their preferences, including translating text into more legible fonts, changing colour contrast, and reading page content aloud. The solution works from any computer, tablet, or smartphone without installing software. The product is currently being trialled at Northumbria University. Founder Ross Linnett, who discovered his own dyslexia while serving as president of the Northumbria University Student Union, created the software. Recite Me plans to adapt the product to make it compatible with Apple's iPad and aims to make the software available across the globe. The company received a £100,000 investment from Northstar Ventures through the Finance for Business North East Proof of Concept Fund to continue product development.
