Recurate provides an embeddable recommerce solution that lets customers buy and resell items on a single brand’s own website rather than via third-party marketplaces. The platform uses consumer purchase data, official product images and descriptions, and metrics like original price and item quality to estimate resale value and facilitate transactions. Founded in 2020, the startup has onboarded a portfolio of more than 40 fashion brands (including Steve Madden, Mara Hoffman and La Ligne) and expects to exceed 100 brand partners by the end of 2022. Recurate plans product upgrades including streamlined website integration, advanced analytics, the ability for brands to sell unsold inventory, monetizing unsellable returns, product authentication, repairs and upcycling, and digital ID authentication. Financially, the company has raised a $14M Series A after an earlier $3.5M raise that funded initial product development. Recurate provides web integration software that lets brands host peer-to-peer resale of products on their own sites, offering sellers cash or store credit while allowing brands to recoup revenue and retain customer data. The platform is built using AWS and Ruby on Rails and is used by brands including RE/DONE, Womance, Brass, Mara Hoffman, La Ligne and Peak Design. Founder and CEO Adam Siegel says the product aims to keep garments in circulation to reduce the environmental impacts of new production. The company launched in November 2019 and positions itself around circular fashion and sustainability. With a $3.25M raise, Recurate plans to further build out its technology, add more brands, and bolster its customer service capabilities. The company is expanding its team both locally and remotely and is actively hiring now with plans to add additional hires through the end of the year.
