Overview
Reflex is an open-source web framework that enables developers to build entire web apps—front end and back end—using only Python. The project was released in December and has attracted about 5,000 developers who have built roughly 15,000 apps. The maintainers report 61 external contributors to the project and a Discord community of more than 1,400 members. The founders built the company website with the framework to demonstrate it can handle large, multipage external-facing apps. Reflex’s business plan is to monetize via a hosted platform, introducing a one-command “Reflex deploy” hosting service that they expect to beta in the next couple months. The team is small—a couple of full-time employees plus contractors—and the startup is using seed funding to accelerate development of the hosting product.
