ReleaseHub provides an environments-as-a-service (EaaS) platform that automatically spins up isolated, full-stack environments for every code commit, pull request, or branch to support testing, QA, performance testing, demos, and migrations. Customers such as Shogun, Monad, and Simon Data integrate their source control (GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab) and CI/CD pipelines so environments appear on demand and are torn down when branches are merged. The platform includes native integrations with DockerHub, JFrog Artifactory, AWS EKS, LaunchDarkly, and exposes an API for use with GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins and other pipelines. ReleaseHub runs entirely inside customers’ own AWS or GCP accounts so infrastructure and artifacts remain under the customer’s control. The company pitches a Heroku-like developer experience while allowing access to full cloud provider capabilities, and some organizations are already migrating from Heroku to ReleaseHub. ReleaseHub was founded in San Francisco in 2019 and participated in Y Combinator’s Winter 2020 batch. ReleaseHub offers a service that creates reproducible development environments on demand, removing manual DevOps work required to build testing, staging and production environments. The product integrates with GitHub and BitBucket and uses templates to spin up environments instantly. The company launched at the beginning of last year, spent that year building with design partners and beta customers, and has now made the service generally available. ReleaseHub plans to sell a subscription priced by the number of environments created. The founding team is led by co-founder and CEO Tommy McClung, who previously ran engineering at TrueCar and is a two-time Y Combinator founder. The company is remote-first, currently has 10 employees (including three founders), and intends to hire additional engineers while prioritizing diversity.
