Overview
Restream operates Restream.io, a cloud multi-streaming service that allows users to simultaneously broadcast to more than 30 live-streaming platforms, including Twitch and YouTube, and offers Facebook Live under a paid service. The platform connects content creators with live-streaming platforms and is positioned to help creators improve work efficiency as competition in streaming grows. Restream is based in Austin, Texas, and was founded in November 2014. The company announced a seed investment round totaling $3.37 million to advance its service connecting creators and platforms. Investors named in the round include US early-stage VC Silverton Partners, PayPal's early-stage investment arm, and South Korea's Kakao Ventures. Restream provides a multistreaming platform that lets users broadcast live video to some 30 destinations (including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube) and rebroadcast video from sources like Zoom. The company operates a freemium model with the majority of customers on the free tier and paid plans ranging from $19 to $299 per month. Restream has expanded beyond gaming to serve creators, musicians, businesses and large organizations — customers include the World Health Organization, Dr. Phil, Deepak Chopra, Microsoft, Red Hat, Salesforce and Ubisoft. The startup grew rapidly during the pandemic, reporting 300% growth in recent months and hitting 750 million monthly views in July, while operating with a roughly 45-person remote team. It was bootstrapped for years and has been profitable almost from the start. Restream is launching Restream Studio to add production tools (captions, lower-thirds, watermarks, chat management, editing/repurposing and analytics) and plans to expand localized servers to serve more markets.
