Overview
Edinburgh-headquartered Rhizocore Technologies develops and supplies carefully selected, locally adapted mycorrhizal fungi—in pellet form—to accelerate tree establishment and boost survival rates across diverse environments, including clear-felled forests, former agricultural land, moorlands, reclaimed mining sites and high-altitude terrain. Operating on more than 100 active field sites, the biotech company’s “data-driven, nature-first” approach taps into fungi’s below-ground fertilisation capabilities to deliver measurable growth enhancements for forestry customers. The technology has attracted customers such as Forestry and Land Scotland and The Grosvenor Estate, two of whom also became investors in the latest round. Rhizocore plans to use its proprietary fungi solutions to unlock large-scale restoration and improve the economic returns of land assets by enhancing soil biology. With fresh capital, the firm will scale production capacity at its Roslin facility and expand into North America, where 1.4 billion trees are planted each year. The company’s growing multi-year order book across the UK and Europe underlines early commercial traction, although specific revenue or user figures were not disclosed.
