Roadsurfer operates a fleet-based business renting, selling and offering subscriptions for campervans and runs the Roadsurfer Spots campsite marketplace. Roadsurfer is a Munich-based camper van rental company that rents out 2,500 campers across eight European countries. Founded in 2016, the startup employs about 500 people. It also sells used vehicles via its own site and third-party used-car portals. A newer revenue stream is mediating unusual camping locations — for example farms or wineries — for which Roadsurfer receives a flat rate. Co-founder Markus Dickhardt is targeting turnover in the double-digit million range for the year, and the company was already profitable even before the COVID-19 pandemic. The company raised €28.5 million in its latest round of funding.
