Runnable provides a searchable library of runnable code snippets for popular programming languages and APIs. The service launched with about 1,000 code snippets and lets users edit and execute snippets in-browser by spinning up short-lived virtual machines. Since launching about four weeks ago, Runnable has received requests from over 150 companies to add their code to the library and is currently monitoring all code submissions. The company plans to use its seed funding to onboard the companies waiting to bring snippets for their APIs, libraries, and SDKs and to expand beyond PHP, Node.js, and Ruby. Over time Runnable intends to open the service to any developer or company and aims to become the go-to site for companies and open-source projects to get coders to use their tools. The seed round was led by Sierra Ventures with additional investments from Resolute VC, AngelPad, 500 Startups, and angels including Hiten Shah and Isaac Roth.
