Scoville
20 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU, United Kingdom
Overview
Scoville launched in public beta as a location discovery service that surfaces trending local spots by aggregating small, geo‑located signals. The product ingests Foursquare check‑in data and combines users' liked places, social graph, similarities with other users, and reputation (via the Klout API) to produce personalized weekly recommendations. The startup ran a private beta limited to heavy Foursquare users and attracted more than 5,000 signups and notable beta testers. Founders Gerald Goldstein and Itamar Lesuisse (former product manager at Amazon and Visa) intend to add many new ways to share and discover places, including expanding beyond Foursquare users. The team describes a long‑term vision of building an interest graph and becoming a crowdsourced Time Out–style discovery engine.
