Overview
SeaWell Networks offers Spectrum, an adaptive bitrate (ABR) management solution that simplifies delivery of HTTP ABR streaming and enables service providers to monetize content through network-based ad insertion. Spectrum 2.0 adds targeted ad campaign insertion into seamless ABR streams and repackages files per user and device to personalize each session. The product collects per-session user and network data to enable measurement and business-model flexibility (subscription, pay-as-you-go, metered). Spectrum’s ad insertion aims to create TV-like transitions between content and ads, improve viewing times and click-through rates, and produce streams that are resistant to conventional ad blockers. SeaWell demonstrated Spectrum 2.0 at the NAB Show and positions the product to expand existing VOD and linear advertising models to any IP device. The company announced an additional $3 million in Series B investment, bringing the Series B to $8 million in total. SeaWell Networks is a Canadian provider of Internet video delivery products aimed at content producers and their delivery partners. The company is developing a solution based on H.264 scalable video coding (SVC) intended to enable TV-like online viewing and reduce the cost of delivering content to any screen or device. Its technology targets HD full-screen resolution as well as lower resolutions for low-bandwidth mobile devices. SeaWell's solution is designed to help organizations stop over-provisioning delivery networks to address quality and scalability challenges from surging online media traffic. Founded in 2008, the company has supplemented its development efforts through outside financing. The recent financing round included the conversion of prior seed funding.
