Senken operates a climate finance trading platform of on-chain carbon credits, providing a marketplace for the purchase, sale, and retirement of credits. The marketplace offers access to more than 20 million tokenized carbon credits from verified climate projects and presents project information, ratings, trade, pricing, and sensor technology in a clear, comparable format. By using blockchain technology, Senken provides customers with additional security and transparency at the data level to ensure the quality and integrity of offset projects. It launched Carbon Forwards, a new financial instrument that allows pre-funding of climate projects still in development for a reduced price, enabling organizations to hedge their carbon emissions and manage exposure to carbon prices. Senken has initiated a pilot with Vlinder that will provide 500tCO2 of forward carbon credits to fund reforestation of mangroves in Kenya; the Vlinder Kenya Blue Carbon project aims to revitalize 1,500 hectares and has an emission removal capacity of 731,165 tons. Founded in 2021 and led by CEO Adrian Wons, Senken is based in Berlin and Cape Town and intends to use funding to power a transparent, liquid marketplace.
