Overview
SERDA Therapeutics, founded in 2020 as a joint venture between Smith & Nephew International and NLC, is developing SN514, a proprietary enzymatic wound debridement product for burns and chronic ulcers. The company completed a successful IND submission and is currently running a Phase 1 clinical trial, with a Phase IIa study on burn wounds planned later this year. The €2M funding will support development and commercialisation efforts for SN514. SERDA’s technology is being developed to combine long-term stability with fast removal of damaged tissue to reduce healing time and patient discomfort. The programme has support from the US Army’s medical research division. NLC’s involvement includes leading the financing via its Health Impact Fund, which targets early-stage healthcare innovations.
