  • Garland Surgical

    Participated · Seed · May 2026

Garland Surgical develops the TriActiv Hip, a patented triaxial hip system designed to deliver a wider, more natural range of motion with enhanced stability and ultra-low wear compared to conventional ball-and-socket implants. The company positions TriActiv to address instability and longevity concerns for higher-risk and high-demand patients and to compete in an estimated $8 billion total hip replacement market. Garland aims to complete final design verification, pursue regulatory submissions for FDA and MDR clearance, and progress to first-in-human clinical studies as part of its evidence-generation roadmap. The business is supported by a recently closed €3.5 million seed round and is preparing a staged Series A with advisory support from Ferghana Partners to fund regulatory and clinical milestones and enable early commercialization. Founded in 2022, Garland is headquartered near Worcester, United Kingdom, and operates in Malta with collaborations across Europe.

  • SERDA therapeutics

    Led · Equity · Jun 2024

SERDA Therapeutics, founded in 2020 as a joint venture between Smith & Nephew International and NLC, is developing SN514, a proprietary enzymatic wound debridement product for burns and chronic ulcers. The company completed a successful IND submission and is currently running a Phase 1 clinical trial, with a Phase IIa study on burn wounds planned later this year. The €2M funding will support development and commercialisation efforts for SN514. SERDA’s technology is being developed to combine long-term stability with fast removal of damaged tissue to reduce healing time and patient discomfort. The programme has support from the US Army’s medical research division. NLC’s involvement includes leading the financing via its Health Impact Fund, which targets early-stage healthcare innovations.

  • Altach Biomedical

    Participated · Seed · May 2024

Altach Biomedical is a spin-out of Trinity College Dublin developing novel biomimetic collagen scaffolds to encourage innate regeneration of musculoskeletal tissues, particularly articular cartilage. The scaffold is designed to mimic native cartilage properties and provide an alternative to traditional cartilage-repair methods. Company leaders say the technology could reduce recovery times, lower the need for invasive surgeries, and improve patient outcomes. Altach reports more than a decade of R&D, progressing the technology from proof-of-concept to pre-clinical evaluation, and has recently been granted a US patent. The company intends to scale up manufacturing and validate the product in advance of clinical use. Altach has raised €1.2m to bring its product closer to market and progress towards clinical trials and eventual commercialisation.

  • MindAffect

    Participated · Series A · Apr 2024

MindAffect is a Dutch neuroscience healthtech spin-off from Radboud University’s Donders Institute that develops brain-computer-interface (BCI) diagnostics for auditory and visual assessment. Its flagship product, Aurora, is an 8-channel headband that captures automatic brain responses to sound and produces full audiometric threshold results in under ten minutes. Aurora combines air and bone conduction testing and requires no active responses from patients, enabling testing for infants, young children and adults with disabilities. The company leverages patented BCI technology together with artificial intelligence. MindAffect plans to launch Aurora next year and is expanding applications to a combined hearing and vision test for young children and a glaucoma monitoring test for elderly patients. The company recently secured €1.1M in a Series A funding round to support commercialization and product development.

  • Scinvivo

    Participated · Equity · Feb 2024

Scinvivo is developing an imaging platform built around a forward-looking OCT catheter that visualizes human morphological tissue structure a few millimetres deep at high resolution. The company aims to make cancer diagnostics faster and more accurate, reduce unnecessary surgeries, and enable more precise minimally invasive procedures and personalized treatment. It has closed a €4.7 million financing comprising equity investment and an Innovatiekrediet loan from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RvO). Scinvivo will use the funds to improve the catheter, OCT system, and software so the product is clinic-ready and appealing to urologists, and to perform clinical trials to prove clinical benefits. The team will also prepare documentation to obtain CE certification and develop a go-to-market strategy to launch the OCT imaging platform commercially. Bladder cancer has been chosen as the first clinical indication, with reviewers seeing the technology as a potential game changer in diagnostic routines.
