Shopwave
1st Floor, The Bloomsbury Building, 10 Bloomsbury Way, London, England, WC1A 2SL, United Kingdom
Overview
Shopwave provides an iPad POS platform and an open API that lets developers build apps (loyalty, wallets, etc.) on top of its system. The company targets national retailers with the aim that large accounts will help the platform trickle down to smaller businesses. Its product integrates with existing payment/incumbent providers (iZettle, Veriphone, FirstData) rather than replacing them. Shopwave charges a flat per-terminal-per-month fee or a combination of the POS app plus a slice of payment-processing fees, and it says it may later take an app-revenue share. The API is live and Shopwave counts customers including Timberyard UK, Street Kitchen, and 67 other UK retailers. The founders, Ben Brown and Julian Polzella, built on prior experience at VouChaCha and say the model should generate revenues to sustain growth.
