Overview
ShoutEm provides a white-label mobile and location social-networking product with native iPhone and BlackBerry apps and an impending Android release. The platform added location features in March using Foursquare’s API and Twitter’s GeoAPI to support check‑ins and local vouchers. It targets monetization through local advertising and vouchers to help smaller sites and businesses earn from their communities. The company reports powering over 20,000 networks. As part of the new funding, ShoutEm is being spun off into Shout Ltd and plans to open offices in London and New York for business development and sales while keeping core development in Croatia. Organizationally, parent company Five Minutes will appoint a new CEO and co‑founder Viktor Marohnic will focus more on ShoutEm and its development. Shout'Em provides a white-label microblogging platform that enables organizations and communities to run their own Twitter-like networks. The service is already hosting about 1,000 networks after a public launch at Le Web. Networks can be used as intranets or microblog communities, and the company plans product development for mobile. The recent seed investment will be used to build native apps for iPhone, Windows Mobile and Android, and to introduce cheaper premium package pricing. Shout'Em is operated by parent company Five minutes Ltd. from Croatia, which also develops local services like Pticica and Trosjed. The company is positioning itself to expand mobile reach and monetize via premium packages.
