  • 4th Office

    Led · Equity · Dec 2014

4th Office is a London-based company that aims to free businesses from email overload via a cloud workspace combining communication, task and document management tools. The platform targets tasking, document versioning and review to reduce fragmentation of digital IP and improve worker productivity. It offers a free entry-level tier and two low-cost business and enterprise plans; more than 15,000 people are already starting their day on the platform. The company raised a second funding round of £2.3 million led by RSG Capital and Ben White, with participation from existing investor Notion Capital. Management said the funds would be used to build traction through social media and word-of-mouth and to expand its product development team while incorporating customer and partner feedback. The startup recently rebranded from BCSocial and relaunched its interface to customer approval. An update in May 2023 indicates the startup appears to be no longer in business under its website and the original link was deactivated.

    Led · Equity · Aug 2010

ShoutEm provides a white-label mobile and location social-networking product with native iPhone and BlackBerry apps and an impending Android release. The platform added location features in March using Foursquare’s API and Twitter’s GeoAPI to support check‑ins and local vouchers. It targets monetization through local advertising and vouchers to help smaller sites and businesses earn from their communities. The company reports powering over 20,000 networks. As part of the new funding, ShoutEm is being spun off into Shout Ltd and plans to open offices in London and New York for business development and sales while keeping core development in Croatia. Organizationally, parent company Five Minutes will appoint a new CEO and co‑founder Viktor Marohnic will focus more on ShoutEm and its development. Shout'Em provides a white-label microblogging platform that enables organizations and communities to run their own Twitter-like networks. The service is already hosting about 1,000 networks after a public launch at Le Web. Networks can be used as intranets or microblog communities, and the company plans product development for mobile. The recent seed investment will be used to build native apps for iPhone, Windows Mobile and Android, and to introduce cheaper premium package pricing. Shout'Em is operated by parent company Five minutes Ltd. from Croatia, which also develops local services like Pticica and Trosjed. The company is positioning itself to expand mobile reach and monetize via premium packages.

    Led · Series A · May 2009

Celtra builds enterprise software to scale creative production and automate omnichannel digital creative across people, data, and media. The company started as a creative technology for media businesses and has expanded its Creative Automation solutions into brands and agencies. Celtra counts customers such as adidas, NBCU, WarnerMedia, Unilever, Spotify, and Shopify. Management says the company has been profitable since 2017 and is expected to generate over $50M in revenue in 2021, growing by more than 25% year over year. In the prior year Celtra won more than 40 new enterprise customers, supporting its expansion beyond media and adtech. The company plans to use the new strategic partnership to scale the business and accelerate its vision for automating creative execution and workflows. Celtra provides a cloud-based creative management platform for digital advertising built on HTML5 authoring with integrated creative serving, designed from the start for mobile advertising. The company’s agnostic solution supports advanced video, display and native ad formats. Celtra powers campaigns for more than 3,500 brands and two-thirds of Fortune 500 advertisers. Led by founder and CEO Miha Mikek, the company has offices in Boston, New York City, San Francisco, London, Ljubljana, Singapore and Sydney. The articles note a $15M funding round and a strategic partnership with investors to expand use of its creative technology across large marketing organizations. Celtra builds tools for rich-media ad creation, mobile ad serving, and analytics. Its flagship product is AdCreator, and the company launched version 3 in June. Celtra says it reached profitability in the third quarter of last year and reported 300% year-over-year revenue growth. Customers and partners include four of the top five mobile ad networks and eight of the top 10 media agencies. The company plans to use the new funding and SoftBank's connections to pursue opportunities in Japan and elsewhere in Asia and to bring product development operations to San Francisco. SoftBank’s Ron Fisher is joining the board as part of the investment. Celtra develops AdCreator, a self-service SaaS platform for rich-media mobile ads that handles creation, trafficking, tracking and optimization. The platform offers analytics to show how users are interacting with their ads. Celtra’s rich media ads can be integrated into networks such as Jumptap, AdMarvel, Amobee, Mojiva, Nexage, Smaato, Sympatico, Pandora and DoubleClick DART. The company has worked with brands including Starwood Hotels, Kmart, the NBA and Evian to create rich media mobile advertisements resembling Apple’s iAd. Ads created on the platform can be published on both iOS and Android devices. Celtra has raised a $5 million Series A from GrandBanks Capital and Fairhaven Capital. Celtra is an online mobile marketing platform that helps brands and agencies produce and deliver targeted mobile advertising campaigns. The Cambridge, MA-based company offers tools to create mobile widgets, display ads, mobile apps, mobile banners and an API, and includes drag-and-drop assembly features to avoid custom application development. Celtra says its platform can cut major campaign costs by eliminating the need for custom app development. It has worked with entertainment clients including 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros and Paramount on movie release campaigns such as Sex and the City, Tropic Thunder and Meet the Spartans. The company raised $1.2 million in a Series A from RSG Capital. In its press release Celtra framed the round as a make-or-break moment, saying the funding gives it one year to demonstrate value to major US and European brands and ad agencies and to act as a bridge from online to mobile.
