SignaCor Therapeutics
63 University Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT7 1NF, United Kingdom
Overview
Founded in 2024 as a spin-out from Queen’s University Belfast, SignaCor Therapeutics is focused on creating disease-modifying medicines for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a genetic cardiac disorder that affects roughly 1 in 500 people in the UK. Its lead candidate, Cardiaza, targets multiple underlying causes of symptomatic HCM—including established fibrosis—through a novel DNA-methylation mechanism. The therapy is positioned as the first treatment aimed at repairing heart muscle damage rather than simply managing symptoms. Fresh capital will support preparations for a Phase 2a clinical trial and advance the company’s regulatory strategy. SignaCor’s team is led by CEO Darach Neeson and CSO Dr Chris Watson and was recently recognised as the top company in Discovery Park’s Spark growth programme. Still pre-revenue, the startup is in the midst of closing a €1.1 million Seed round to fund its next stage of clinical development.
