Overview
SinDelantal.Mx is an online takeout delivery service launched in 2012 by the founders of Spain’s SinDelantal.com. The company claims leadership in Mexico’s online takeout market, working with about 1,000 restaurants in Mexico City and handling over 10,000 orders per month. It reused technology developed for the Spanish operation, enabling a quick and agile launch. Just Eat allowed the startup to re-use the SinDelantal name despite not holding a stake, and the Spanish predecessor exited to Just Eat late last year. Seaya Ventures invested €2.5 million in the company. The team and investor point to Mexico’s large market potential — roughly 47 million Internet users, strong mobile purchasing, rapid e-commerce growth, and an online delivery market estimated to be ten times the size of Spain — as drivers for expansion. Sindelantal operates an online platform for restaurant takeout and delivery across multiple Spanish cities. The company has signed up 350 restaurants and processed 2,500 orders to date. Founded by Evaristo Babé and Diego Ballesteros, it currently operates in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza and other smaller towns. Sindelantal announced new funding to boost local growth and begin rolling out in Latin America in 2012. Its largest competitor in Spain is Just Eat, which at the time had about 250 restaurants and over 10,000 orders processed. The business is early-stage with modest order volume relative to the competitor but is using the new capital to expand its footprint.
