Skedaddle operates an on-demand platform that lets users create or join long-distance routes and taps into existing, underutilized charter bus, shuttle, and van capacity. After downloading the app, users create a route or join an existing one; once a minimum of nine people commit, Skedaddle arranges a professionally driven vehicle. Pricing is a standard seat price based on distance, with incentives: the route creator receives a free seat and the next nine riders get a 20% discount, after which everyone pays the same price. The company has moved over 45,000 people between major cities, is operating in a few East Coast cities, and plans expansion to Los Angeles and San Francisco in the spring. Skedaddle also serves one-off transportation needs like concerts and ski weekends and expects trips to trend toward one-way as density grows.
