Skyfit is an audio-based fitness app that synchronizes the voice of an elite trainer and the beat of a song with the pace of a workout to recreate a studio-class experience on mobile devices. Led by founder and CEO Ethan Agarwal and based in New York City, the app currently offers classes in running, cycling, elliptical, and yoga, and provides full 5k and 10k training programs. The company raised $1.52M in seed funding across two closings: a $450K round that closed in January 2016 led by Pejman Mar Ventures with angel participation, and a $1.07M round led by Arena Ventures that closed last week with participation from Pejman Mar Ventures and Switch Ventures. Ajay Kamat, a partner at Pejman Mar Ventures, will join Skyfit's board in conjunction with the funding. Skyfit will use the proceeds to further build out its team and launch five new workout categories, including strength training, half- and full-marathon training programs, pilates, and meditation.
