Skystream Markets provides institutional renewable energy producers and traders with RECstream, a technology-driven transaction platform for renewable energy certificates (RECs), serving trading desks across North America. Skystream raised $4M in a Series A round led by Connecticut Innovations with participation from Advantage Capital Connecticut, the Clean Energy Venture Group and LaunchCapital. In conjunction with the financing, Daniel Rappaport, former chairman and CEO of the New York Mercantile Exchange, joined Skystream’s board of directors. Skystream Markets Inc. operates an electronic transaction platform for trading Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in the U.S. The platform is designed to work directly with power producers and major trading counterparties and includes market mechanisms targeted at gaps in primary and secondary REC markets. The company also offers project finance advisory and market research services. Skystream intends to use the new capital to expand its platform. In conjunction with the investment, it will relocate its corporate and technology development operations from New York City to Stamford, Connecticut. The company was co-founded by Kapil Mohindra and Naeem Hukkawala.
