Founded in 2023 in Hamburg, Smatch addresses the fashion industry’s €300 billion annual overstock problem. Its AI-driven B2B platform links global fashion brands with retailers, enabling unsold inventory to be redistributed at speed while preserving brand control. Each transaction is guided by two AI “Co-Pilots”—one for sellers and one for buyers—that optimize for speed, margin or distribution control. Buyers obtain real-time access to verified stock, and sellers convert tied-up goods into cash without public discounting. Since launch, more than €15 billion worth of goods and over 190 million individual items have been listed on the marketplace, and the company already works with several leading sports and fashion labels. By preventing the destruction of slow-moving stock, Smatch seeks to reduce the 264,000–594,000 tonnes of textiles disposed of in Europe each year. The recent €7.3 million seed round will fund further product development and international expansion.
