SocialPoint is a Barcelona-based developer of social games for platforms like Facebook, best known for Social Empires, Social Wars and Dragon City. Founded in 2008, the company says it has over 15 million active monthly users. Social Empires was its first major hit and SocialPoint has released a steady stream of new games since. The company plans to release multiple iOS games later this year, including the first mobile version of Social Empires, and says forthcoming mobile titles will allow seamless cross-platform integration. SocialPoint intends to use new funding to hire developers, game designers, IT engineers and support staff, to launch additional social games and to finance its push into the mobile market. While not yet at the scale of Zynga or larger European rivals such as King.com and Wooga, SocialPoint participates in a lively and growing European social gaming scene.
