Society of Grownups
1653 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA, 02445, United States
Overview
Society of Grownups is a learning initiative created by MassMutual that helps twenty- and thirty-somethings navigate financial and major adult topics through classes, supper clubs, networking events, and one-on-one sessions with CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals. Launched in Brookline, Massachusetts in October 2014, the initiative blends an in-person space with a digital platform at societyofgrownups.com that offers relatable content, intuitive financial tools, and balanced advice. The project was developed with human-centered design input from IDEO in its early phases. Society of Grownups operates as a separate legal entity and does not sell financial products. With strong local demand—classes and supper clubs selling out and social followers asking for expansion—the company plans to extend its physical presence to ten additional cities over the next three years, beginning in 2016 with Philadelphia and New York City. MassMutual has committed $100 million to support the development of the digital presence and the national expansion.
