Solinea began as a services organization that helps enterprises design and deploy private OpenStack clouds and has evolved into a technology provider with a product platform. Its core product is Goldstone, an open-source tool for visualizing, monitoring, and managing OpenStack clouds, and the company plans to launch a new product based on Goldstone in Q1 2016. The team is led by CEO Francesco Paola and co-founder/CTO Ken Pepple, who has deep OpenStack experience. The company mostly bootstrapped early on and recently raised a $4 million Series A led by TransLink Capital with participation from its angel investors. Solinea plans to use the funding to build the new Goldstone-based product and to accelerate growth in APAC, with a special focus on Japan.
