Overview

Sonio is a Paris-based prenatal care company that provides an AI-software platform to guide practitioners during prenatal ultrasound scans. Its offerings include Sonio Diagnostics, which combines a patient’s medical history, genetic and biological data, and ultrasound semiology to assist physicians toward a correct diagnosis. Sonio Pro assists sonographers during prenatal screening scans to ensure completeness, account for risk factors, and facilitate image sharing with patients and other health professionals. Sonio Share enables healthcare professionals to easily share ultrasound images and clips with patients. The company raised $14M in a Series A round. It plans to use the funds to launch sales in the United States, accelerate R&D in imaging and genomics, and adapt its technology for portable ultrasound devices and point-of-care use. Sonio offers an AI-driven SaaS platform that combines prenatal medicine expertise, imaging, genetic and environmental data to support fetal ultrasound practitioners. The company has brought two products to market: Sonio Diagnostics (CE marked) for expert diagnostic ultrasounds and Sonio Pro for routine pregnancy ultrasounds. Sonio is already used by over 250 healthcare professionals and has partnerships with Samsung France and distributors in India, Brazil and Nigeria. Founded in 2020 and built on five years of R&D conducted with Ecole Polytechnique, the PRAIRIE Institute and Necker Hospital, the team plans to accelerate feature development including embedded image recognition and genomics. Sonio intends to expand commercial operations in the US, ramp up sales in Europe and India, and pursue more research, clinical studies and patents while aiming to become an "Entreprise à Mission." Sonio builds an AI software platform that assists fetal ultrasound practitioners in detecting congenital malformations and securing pregnancy care, claiming coverage for conditions that often go undetected before birth. The product combines fetal medicine expertise, AI, software development and imaging and is described as a patented deep-technology platform by investors. The company plans to add embedded image recognition to its platform and to bring a full suite of products to market. Sonio is currently being used by 150 healthcare professionals across Europe. It has partnerships with ultrasound manufacturer Samsung France and private clinics including PointGyn (OneClinic) in France and GynEcho in Canada. Management says the new funding will support hiring in software development and sales to scale commercial deployment.
