SOS was founded and is led by co-CEOs Susanna Twarog and Robina Verbeek, who met as colleagues at State Street and built the first version of the machine in 2017, deploying the first unit in 2020. The team holds five design patents intended to protect its device designs. Financially, SOS just closed a $3.4 million funding round to expand its offering and install more machines. The company plans near-term rollouts that include an additional 35 machines to FLA Live Arena and five to the Panthers’ IceDen, and aims to expand to New York, Florida, California and other U.S. markets.
