Overview
SoSafe is a Cologne-based cybersecurity awareness and testing platform that takes a user-centered approach to reducing human-led breaches. The company uses insights from behavioral science to nudge users toward safer behavior and employs gamified training to teach end-users what to look out for. Its platform is underpinned by behavioral analytics and human risk scoring. SoSafe says it now has more than 1,500 customers, including Aldi, Ceconomy AG, Taylor Wessing, Vattenfall and Valtech. The startup recently raised a $73 million Series B to scale up its human-focused cybersecurity offerings. Existing investors Acton Capital and Global Founders Capital participated alongside new backers. SoSafe provides simulated phishing tests, awareness materials and training to prepare employees for cyber-attacks and to improve handling of security incidents. Its product is positioned as a user-focused alternative to existing solutions for companies of all sizes. Customers named in the article include Vattenfall, dormakaba and a faction in the German Bundestag. The company reports that revenue almost grew tenfold in the last year and that it has been profitable since summer 2019. Headcount has more than doubled to about 40 employees. SoSafe plans to invest further in marketing and sales to pursue market leadership in the DACH region within a year; the company is led by co-founders Niklas Hellemann, Lukas Schaefer and Felix Schürholz.
