- Parloa
Participated · Series B · Apr 2024
Founded six years ago in Berlin, Parloa builds conversational AI agents that handle customer calls and messages for large enterprises such as Allianz, Booking.com, HealthEquity, SAP, Sedgwick, and Swiss Life. Its platform aims to replace human contact-center work by providing contextual, personalized service that can identify a caller and address their needs across phone, web, and app touchpoints. The company disclosed annual recurring revenue of more than $50 million as of last month, positioning it alongside leading peers in the rapidly growing customer-service automation market that Gartner estimates employs 17 million agents worldwide. Management plans to devote substantial new capital to developing a “multi-modal, contextual experience” that extends its AI beyond simply “picking up the phone.” Parloa sees abundant room for multiple winners in the space and believes its capitalization gives it an edge over rivals such as Sierra, Decagon, PolyAI, Intercom, and Kore.ai. Its rapid growth is underscored by a valuation jump from $1 billion to $3 billion in just eight months. The business is already enterprise-ready, with agents answering live calls for global customers today.
- Langdock
Led · Seed · Apr 2024
Langdock is a Germany-based startup that builds a chat interface sitting between companies and large language models to prevent vendor lock-in. The interface lets companies tap foundational models, open-source models or host their own models, and supports prompt libraries and the addition of sensitive documents. Langdock also offers security, cloud and on-premises deployment options. The company is positioning itself for European customers, emphasizing secure and compliant integrations to meet EU regulation. It lists customers including Merck, GetYourGuide, HeyJobs and Forto; Merck has rolled out the interface to 63,000 employees. Langdock raised a $3M seed round led by General Catalyst and La Famiglia, with participation from Y Combinator, noted German founders and around 25 angel investors. The company is “going heavy” on its European play to help firms safely and securely integrate LLMs without locking into a single provider.
- NaroIQ
Led · Seed · Mar 2024
NaroIQ is building a cloud-native, modular digital fund infrastructure to let smaller fund providers and management companies create and operate ETFs and funds more cost-efficiently. The platform emphasizes faster time-to-market, flexible product development and reduced operational costs to democratize access to the European ETF market. NaroIQ positions itself as a European alternative to the US-dominated ETF ecosystem and aims to address concentration by enabling smaller issuers and administrators. The company was founded in 2022 by Chris Püllen and Nils Krauthausen; Chris Püllen serves as CEO. NaroIQ plans to invest its latest funding into technical development and regulatory licensing and intends to launch its first partner integrations this year. The startup argues its solution tackles outdated, manual processes that hurt margins across the European UCITS and AIF market. Naro helps companies create their own ETFs, index funds, and money market funds without taking on operational or regulatory burdens. The platform redistributes fund earnings among involved parties to give distributing companies a larger share of the ETF and fund market. Use cases the company highlights include internal deposit and treasury management, diversifying offerings with proprietary ETFs, and increasing income share in existing fund concepts. Founders Chris Püllen and Nils Krauthausen position Naro as a response to rapid ETF growth in Europe and to perceived shortcomings of traditional fund solutions. Naro announced a $3 million Pre-Seed raise and will use the capital to strengthen its fund infrastructure through strategic partnerships, regulatory licensing, and technology refinement. The ultimate objective is to establish a European fund ecosystem enabling companies to create tailor-made, technology-driven funds without operational or regulatory overhead.
